General Paper Essays, GP Tips, GP Tuition
General Paper Essays, GP Tips
Welcome!
Umar Munshi here, GP Tutor and enthusiast!
General Paper is essential for JC and pre-uni students as it develops and hones analytical thinking ability as well as the skill in expressing analyses in writing. In addition, GP is very commonly the differentiating factor between students competing to get into popular Universities & Faculties.
Enjoy General Paper, embrace knowledge and wisdom - read and read some more. The internet is full of interesting articles and commentaries that make for valuable GP Essay content.
I strive to assist students by posting links to relevant news (General Paper related) on social media and my GP blog (see GP Resources below), and directly help students to improve their GP skills through my group GP Tuition sessions every weekend.
GP Tuition in small focus Groups

Registration Now Open for GP & Econs Tuition
Note: other JC subjects and Upper Sec Humans tuition also available. Click on relevant page above to check it out.
Dear GP and Econs Students,
Registration now open for GP Tuition and Econs Tuition:
Call or sms 81390519
My father (Munshi Snr Econs Expert) and myself (Munshi jnr GP Guru) are now taking in new students.
We are both Authors of numerous books (including TYS with solutions) for our respective subjects, and have a combined Private Tuition experience of almost 40 years.
We specialize in GP Tuition and Econs Tuition respectively and over the years, have successfully forged a reputation as two of the best private tutors in Singapore. Our students perform exceptionally well, thus up to 80% of new students are referrals from ex-students. This is mainly so as we stick strictly to the basic fundamentals of private tuition which include
Register now, before its too late. Typically, we will be almost full by the start of the new year. New slots will only open up when existing students cease tuition upon reaching a satisfactory level of competency.
It is always encouraged to start early, especially for GP Tuition and Econs Tuition, as time is required for students to internalize and understand concepts.
My Advice:
Identify weak subjects from year 1 (promos) and get help immediately. Failure to do so may be detrimental to your hopes of a good result in the A Levels. Some tell-tale danger signs include:
- dislike for the subject, the subject teacher not wanting to go to tutorials etc
- a fatalistic attitude of despair in which you feel you will never do well in the subject
- reaching a plateau where your scores remain stuck below a certain mark
- you do not understand why you get marks below what you expect
If you experience any of these, for any subject, then get help immediately before these problems accumulate and spiral out of control. Should you need GP Tuition or Econs Tuition, then
Call or sms me at 81390519 now to register.
Fees are paid on a monthly basis, at the beginning of the month.
Fee Structure (4 x 1,5hrs) as follows:
Individual - $400
2 in group - $320 each
3 in group - $280 each
open group of 4-6 students - $240 each (longer sessions)
Call or sms me at 81390519 now to register.
Econs Tuition and GP Tuition will be held at our condo in Kembangan (walking distance from MRT) or at our tuition centre at Tanjong Katong Complex (beside Paya Lebar MRT) .
Additional charge of $50 for tuition at your home.

This is mainly so as we stick strictly to the basic fundamentals of private tuition which include
- concepts first, details later - understanding is key as it removes mental blocks and students start to enjoy learning
- teach within syllabus - less experienced tutors may teach more than required which is confusing and a waste of time
- focus on learning by practice - we have targeted and strategic compilations of our own practice papers and questions
- personal touch and focus - we personally teach rather than employ other tutors, and we thus know the strengths and weaknesses of our students
